Northern Natives Confirmed?

I am almost fairly certain this guy right here is a Northern Native American. Based on his accessories and his hairstyle. Maybe this is where you get the bow from? Maybe this character possible teaches you how to use it?

He said he's going to need an extra gun so they are either doing something together or trading so I can see how a bow can come in to play here. I have a feeling that there will be some pretty epic fights with Native Americans in this one. Bows, guns, horses... Good ol' cowboy and indian!

Yup. There is something going on here in terms of a trade be it for weapons or services. The Indian man appears to be among white people as well so maybe he is betraying his own people? There is a lot you can speculate from such a small time frame in the trailer.

I like this. I mean it is something I wanted more of in the last one but being that it dated in a time when there weren't really any native american tribes or gangs left, it wasn't a think.

The first one took place in 1911 so I am guessing this one is about 20 years before that, so 1891. Dutch doesn't look too much younger in the new trailer. I am not sure if this is a good time period to actually have the whole "cowboys and Indians" thing but I would sure love to see more of it.

I'm not sure how they could handle cowboys and indians delicately. I mean, the whole episode has never showered white american settlers in glory and for me the genocide of the native americans and the war that was forced on them is not something that should be glorified or devalued by putting it in a video game.

Benjo, please. Fighting in a WWII game does not glorify Nazis or devalue the Holocaust. Playing a Civil War strategy game does not glorify or devalue slavery. Ad infinitum, ad nauseum. Playing RDR does not glorify any of the atrocities committed by anyone during the era.
Did you know that the Mexican state of Chihuahua put a bounty of $200 on any Indian scalp when 20$ was yearly salary for many? Guess what the result was? So if RDR made a mission set in that situation in Mexico, does it devalue the Indians, does it glorify scalp taking or is it racist for showing what the Mexicans did to the Indians? How many more self-loathing rabbit holes can we go down there?

So anyway, the late timeline of RDR in general really hurts the massive game play possibilities, no one wants to play a reservation Indian whom the federal government has pacified with coffee, sugar, alcohol and Indian Agents that are the 1890's version of Obamacare. What a waste of potential and hell, talk about disrespectful, don't even allow the Indians to be shown in all their glory.

Also this character in the screenshot looks like a black man, not a Sioux or Northern Cheyenne. He doesn't even look like a Comanche which were much darker skinned and shorter than the northern plains tribes.

The scenery is looking amazing in the screenshots, shame we won't see a small band of Northern Cheyenne or Sioux crest a hill in full regalia and feathered lances, with headdresses of eagle feathers and buffalo or antelope horns, mountain lion pelt quivers, painted ponies, tasseled moccasins, quirts, stone warhammers and Henry repeaters.
Imagine a series of missions where you are captured by a plains band, then you have to prove yourself as a warrior and you get to hunt buffalo, raid white settlements of wagon trains or other Indian villages?

Nobody would trade that for a damn Model A clunking down the street.

Seems they will be to the South again in this game, just slightly more east. So Northern Indians? Not quite. Either way, I love having them in the game myself. I like these aspects of history, even if a small group gets pissed over it.

Do you play as the Nazis committing genocide on jews? No.

Would we be playing American settlers committing genocide on native Americans? Possibly.

This is what I mean.

What happened to the Natives was unfortunate and should not have happened but we can't just ignore history because we don't like hurting people's feelings.

I wouldn't want to play a game where I ride around killing natives any more than I would want to play one where I press a button to gas a load of jews. It's not about hurting peoples' feelings, it's just morally wrong. I'm not saying ignore history, but they need to be sensitive about it. For instance, I wouldn't expect there to be black slaves in this game either. It's not ignoring history, it just has no place in a video game.

What do they tend to do for movies for things like this?

I mean clearly, the Natives Americans are working alongside the "cowboys" in this game. Just based on the trailer alone you can see that.

They were in the Revenant but they showed people working together and looked at it from their oppressed point of view, which I think is the way everyone would handle it.
