When you guys think we will see an open Beta going?

Recommended Posts

I am pretty sure the open Betas are only open to select number of people but still, I have not seen nor heard any news on this. I would imagine it has to be done soon considering it is nearly half way through January and the same is rumored to come out on May/June.

Just mentioned this in another thread. I am not sure when it will come out. Is it their fashion to have one for every game or do they normally just have their insiders do the testing on the beta version?

Wish there was some way to be selected to participate in it, that’s for sure! If there is please let me know.

I think they hand select gamers they see on Twitch and Youtube. We will likely know when the beta is happening when guys on those sites start uploading vids for the game.

Not their thing. All the beta testing will be done inside their studios by people hired by them.

Don't count on a single gameplay video on YouTube before the release date. That's how it was with GTA V.

Yeah I'd agree with you on this, very much doubt they'll risk leaking any content about the game (SP or MP modes) and so if this does happen I'm sure it'll be internal and/or with a very strict NDA in place. It's profile is just waaaay too high to risk on potential leaks from a beta.

I'm sure we'll also all be happier that no one can potentially spoil any of it for us that are waiting patiently for the release.

What you're talking about is usually considered a closed beta for "invite only" (open being "open" to all).

....but as folks mentioned, I'm not sure if I would even count on that.  Even on closed betas where folks may have to sign an NDA, there's no guarantee of stopping leaks.

This is the first time I have seen anyone mention this and trust me, this won't happen. The first people to play the game outside of Rockstar will be the people who buy the game and get it home the quickest on the release day. I know with a lot of other games they do this and I could have seen some light beta testing for the online end being open to external gamers but surely not the story.

I actually thought they did have a beta period for GTA V that was open for the online end but thinking back, it was likely for a hired crew like mentioned. I never really put attention on this for any game because I want everything to remain a surprise. Like outside of trailers, I want to experience it myself before I see anyone else experience the game.

There will only be talks of it happening and it will not be opened as mentioned. Not sure if you miss-worded yourself and meant "closed beta" or what. Either way, I prefer it this way like Dave mentioned. I don't like things to be ruined.

I don't ever remember Rockstar having a open beta?   Usually they keep their info in house so they can control the leaks.

Yeah, they don't do this. They have closed testing within their own company. I believe I read somewhere that employees are contracted into secrecy.

I am curious as to why they never had an open beta period for even YouTubers or Twitch streamers. It seems to be a thing that all other games do these days. It is free marketing really.

This 100%. If you think anything different, you don't know R$'s release cycle.

My guess is it would have to do with keeping leaks and such from getting out. They don't release several titles like many other devs so they rely a lot on their games pulling in tons of cash. Maybe part of the reason they keep everything under lock and key is to keep people interested and more likely to buy the game at full price VS seeing people playing it and deciding to wait till the price comes down.

That is a fair point I suppose. I guess I would be less likely to pay full price for some games had I watched them being played beforehand. RDR2 is different though. I am buying it regardless.

Can you not watch other people playing on YouTube a day after it has been released?
